Compel politicians to reinstate reproductive rights, including the immediate reinstatement of Roe v Wade through the courts and/or the creation of federal law in Congress now.

This fight is personal because I, like many women across our nation, am deeply disappointed and distressed by recent political outcomes. It is unimaginable that in the 21st century, the welfare of women is still at the mercy of politicians who do not understand, or choose to overlook, the challenges we face in our reproductive health journey.

The rights awarded to us from the landmark Roe v. Wade case are slowly being eroded, leaving doctors afraid to help women because of new abortion laws. This alarming scenario puts more than just our health at risk; it infringes on our fundamental human rights, the right to control our bodies, and our futures.

The consequent reduction of access to safe and legal abortions has resulted in an increased risk of complications and death for women. A review published in the Obstetrics & Gynecology Journal suggests that for every 1% increase in abortion restrictions, there was a corresponding 1% increase in the rates of maternal mortality (Source: Obstetrics & Gynecology Journal, 2020).

We are tired of waiting for positive action from the leaders of our two major political parties. We long to reclaim our rights to own our bodies, the right to safe and reliable healthcare, and the liberty bestowed on us by Roe v. Wade. We implore our lawmakers to rise above the political fray, to listen to the voices of the women they serve, and to ensure that these rights are secured once again -- immediately, and with no waiting and no excuses.

There is an urgent need for positive change, and we cannot afford any further delay.
