Please start upholding your public commitment to put your "Members First". Prohibit Anonymous Viewing on LinkedIn, as demanded by so many of your members. We joined to network transparently and accountably, not to be covertly inspected like zoo exhibits.

Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn on the "Next Play" Philosophy - NYT

Jeff Weiner (CEO, LinkedIn):

"So our culture has five dimensions: transformation, integrity, collaboration, humor and results. And there are six values: members first; relationships matter; be open, honest and constructive; demand excellence; take intelligent risks; and act like an owner. And by far the most important one is members first. We as a company are only as valuable as the value we create for our members."

LinkedIn,

We need you to please listen to your members.

When I first heard about LinkedIn being a professional networking site where people could connect in a way outside of the "social media" sites, offering a structured, contained, business atmosphere I welcomed that platform as a new business owner. Shortly after joining I would receive "anonymous views" and it made me uncomfortable, for lack of a better description. This was not Facebook, Twitter, etc. where you have no idea of who crosses through your "personal" profile on a daily basis and don't expect privacy. If someone wants to creep on your pages on those particular sites, they will find a way. But, here on LinkedIn, it caught me off guard. So, why is someone choosing to be anonymous?

Years ago I "thought" I was communicating with a parent looking for a horse for their child. Truth be known, he was a predator and my life forever took a new path. Anyone can Google my name (or click on the link below) and see my story. Am I paranoid? I would say, I am cautious, more so than I ever thought I would have had to be. Joining LinkedIn and the professionalism it offered for growing my business was an important new chapter in my life. After the post by Alan Boardman and the incredible reaction to it.... I am so glad I am far from alone in my hope that LinkedIn will listen and “Prohibit” anonymous views.

From connecting and talking with others who, like me, posted comments of support for Alan Boardman's article, I found out about other victims who have been stalked, threatened and traumatized on LinkedIn.

So I joined and now passionately support a dedicated campaign, advice and support group. I encourage everyone who wants to see the end of anonymous viewing to also join and support the LinkedIn group “Campaign Against Anonymous Browsing” [CAAB] (link below).

I urge everybody concerned about anonymous views to help us get things changed by signing this petition, by voting "Prohibit" on, liking and following Alan Boardman's article (link below), by joining and supporting CAAB (link below) and by following, liking commenting and sharing your support for this important cause on social media (links below), so that LinkedIn can see how very many of us there are, that we are not going away and that we mean business (no pun intended).

Many discussion groups are quiet. Networking is slowly dying on LinkedIn.

Please restore professionalism, transparency and accountability to your site before your important global brand is damaged and somebody gets seriously hurt or worse after having been tracked down anonymously on LinkedIn.
