Hello Dear Supporter,
Here are two major pieces of news that should be of a nature to mobilize you on this petition.
The bee: the most important species on Earth according to the NGO Earthwatch Institute.
The bee: the most important species on Earth according to the NGO Earthwatch Institute. According to the NGO Earthwatch Institute, bees are the most important living beings on Earth. Their role is not only to make honey. In reality, they are an essential link in the survival of ecosystems.
Meet the food needs of the population
According to the Foundation for Research on Biodiversity, nearly 8% of global agricultural production in 2016 resulted from bee pollination, representing an annual monetary value of 235 to 577 billion dollars. Without these insects, there would be no more tomatoes, lemons, strawberries, zucchini or even cocoa or coffee. Crop yields would be much lower and the fruit of poorer quality. Thus, the disappearance of bees would cause colossal losses in the agricultural sector leading to a sharp increase in food prices. That's not all, because many medicines come from flowering plants that reproduce only through this pollination. In fact, if the bees were to disappear, compensatory measures would have to be found at exorbitant cost. Because let us remember that the pollination of bees is a free ecological service.
In short, it is easy to understand why the NGO Earthwatch Institute considers these insects to be the most important living beings on the planet. However, their situation is worrying: 30% of bee colonies disappear each year in France. Their decline represents a real ecological but also economic disaster.
And at the same time the IUCN Red List has classified it as an endangered species!
Let it be known, rotate, please, for your children, grandchildren.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Philippe TREBAUL
