The dogs are back!!! :D If you've been here for a while, you might be familiar with my story. Briefly, after an amicable split turned sour, my ex took my two amazing rescue dogs, had them re-registered in her name, and denied me access to them for over a year and a half. I tried every avenue imaginable from offering her money, to begging, to mediation, to threats of legal action to get them back. The best "offer" I got was that she'd split the dogs, but I refused because they are bonded and it would hurt them, and also, how could I ever choose? Last week, I was able to file court documents so that I could finally have my case heard (April 11th is the date of just the first hearing), and she was served on Wednesday afternoon at 1pm. I had settled in for a long battle, and was determined to see it through, no matter how hard or expensive it got. But at 8:30am the next morning, I received a text message that she wanted to give them back, and I took delivery, complete with signed paperwork at around 6:30 that night! I can't even explain what I'm feeling. The high of having my dogs back and no room in my bed, fluff everywhere, face licks, and everything I'd been missing is unbelievable. I've cried so many tears. This time without my dogs has cost me so much happiness. It cost me my ability to move on from the end of a 10 year relationship. It cost me countless walks, and cuddles, and licks, and moments of joy. And as I write this, I am laying in a really uncomfortable position with a lab and a husky totally disrespecting my personal space, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. If anyone remembers my story, hopefully this is the end of the bad part.
