Well, it's been 10 months since I got my amazing dogs, Cali and Snickers back, and I've taken the time to reconnect with them. Being without them for 19 months was honestly hell. But having them back, is fixing my soul. Despite the huge legal cost, and everything I went through emotionally back then, I'm equipped to deal with it now, because I have two amazing pups sitting on the couch behind me as I write this. I still hate that I missed out on so much time with them, but at least for me... I know it's ok. They're home.
So today, I had a bit of time off. I had a big sleep in with them, then I gave them a bath (They hated it. :) ), took them on two walks, and now we're just chilling.
And then, I go on Facebook, and see a post from someone else who now finds themselves in a similar situation to what I was - their dog sold to someone else because the council failed to check the microchips - and I am overcome by a sense of frustration, and anger that this registration system, and the inability by councils to even follow their own rules is still causing so much heartache.
So this is my update. It's still happening. And just like that, I am back in the fight. I'm sorry I took my foot off the gas for a bit there. But I am back. I'll try not to bother you too much, but I am going to ask that if you're reading this, you make it your mission to get a few signatures.
If you're receiving this update, you've probably already signed the petition. So thankyou! But that doesn't mean you can't share the hell out of it.
And remember, it's NSW election time. Send this to your local member. DO NOT STOP BOTHERING THEM. And it's a NATIONAL issue. Doesn't matter what state you are in, if you have a pet, or have friends who do, this DOES effect you, so get on your local politicians case too.
THIS is the time to make a change!
Oh, and when you write to them, tell them "Cali and Snickers" sent you. :)
They probably won't have any idea what you mean by that,... but with your help, they will figure it out.
Thankyou!
