Both Louth and Grantham Hospitals used to be fully operating A and E hospitals. In recent years they have been downgraded. This means that there are now only  2 full A and E hospitals in Lincolnshire CCG area. They cover a population of approx. 750,000 people it is unsustainable. Louth and Grantham both have brilliant staff who go above and beyond to help patients.

Both me and a family member have been sent to the other 2 Aand E's by Louth hospital. In both cases Louth phoned in advance and gave a letter to take with us. In both cases action was urgent and in both cases we had to wait in the queue. In both cases it could have resulted in disaster. Lincolnshire CCG need to re-establish these A and E in full and they need to do it now before lives are lost.

This county is large and both remaining A and E's are at least one hour drive from the coast time is often of the essence. It is essential that there are once again 4 A and E's across the county apart from anything else it would take the pressure off Boston and Lincoln because neither can cope. It was really bad before the pandemic and now it is diabolical. Lincolnshire CCG do something now to put this right before people lose their lives or end up living with long-term disabilities through no fault of their own.
