Thank you all for your support.

After some discussions with other villagers and a member of the parish council I felt it appropriate to provide all that I am aware of:

1. Of all the people who completed the village community questionnaire 47% opted for potential development . 53% either did not oppose or did not answer the relevant question. Additionally, 73/203 responses stated “ if development took place, bungalows would be preferable”. I think that is 65 requests for bungalows. It is this evidence that has promoted the dialogue between the developers Waddington and the Parish Council.

‘On feedback from these discussions (between the parish council and Waddington developments), a clear demand and local need was expressed for bungalows in the village ...’

However, some feel the questions were leading and could have been posed much clearer and much more precisely. I.E. Would you support more development in Ingham?

The results and breakdown from

The questionnaire are here:

2. The figures for the development are (at the moment) something like:

10 bungalows on one side of the Surgery are proposed and a further 10 plots on the other side of Wessex Way are also up for consideration with potential for further development. However, other plans could develop as landowners have been approached and asked if they would want to be involved. So, there is scope for a lot of building to take place in and around the village and the developers plans (which were handed out at the recent parish meeting) are clearly leaving it open for further opportunities in the future - it’s states this on the plans. So, more building on the fields behind Saxon Way and the ‘escarpment’ which is complimented on the advertising for the current sites. I feel, that this new development will not be the end of building but the beginning.

I realise people are busy and life is fraught with things to do and places to be but if you are sincerely against the development of Ingham and invested in Ingham’s future as a small, picturesque village, attendance at the Parish Council meetings is of great importance. If they do not know how we feel they cannot support us. Alternatively, you can inform the Steering Group of your feelings and /or the Parish Council direct.

Having stated all of this and although I feel strongly about the amount of building that could take place, I do recognise that there is a need for some development and Ingham probably won’t escape unscathed but there needs to be a compromise between development and conservation and perhaps by promoting this petition, a compromise could be reached?

Who knows?!

Keep sharing.

Joanne.
