Joanne Redmile started this petition to Lincoln County Council and

The council are proposing more development sites for housing on the surrounding fields of Ingham.  The fields that many people benefit from every single day of every single year. In my opinion, the Council and the parish could alternatively focus on protecting and supporting the village in other ways rather than allocating the countryside to housing sites.

Ingham is a small village surrounded by fields, country roads, footpaths and the odd small farm. We still have a village green, two country pubs and a small school plus Steve's shop. Ingham still has the opportunity to hold onto its character and natural environment.

Presumably, most residents live in Ingham because they appreciate the environment;  they prefer being in a smaller community and enjoy the space, freedom, safety and fresh air its location provides.

Unfortunately, due to intensive farming (the governments idea) and lack of foresight for the future ( flora, fauna and humans)  Ingham does not have the wildlife it once did which means that there is already a lack of nature. Not many can have escaped the recent scrutiny of human intervention and activity and how it is detrimental to the all of us-right outside our doors right the way up to the Antarctic. Ingham needs to concentrate on rescuing and salvaging the natural opportunities and wildlife  it has and allowing nature to thrive not building yet more 'affordable' housing. There needs to be the opportunity for nature to live and thrive alongside people not just people and houses overwhelming the locality.

Furthermore, the school, its children, adults and the older generation of Ingham would all benefit from a focus on protecting the environment and using the countryside to support each of us in some way. Instead of yet more houses we could have the following:  allotments, a community farm or just fallow natural fields and uncut hedgerows. We could work together as a community to provide for each other (on a small scale) and provide support for each other especially the elderly in our village. The allotments and/or community farm would not only provide exercise, food, flowers, herbs and education for us but animals and all aspects of nature would benefit too. This could provide support for anyone who suffers from mental health as well. Being active, being with people and doing something for others is proven to help us all.

Working together, outside in the natural world could strengthen a community and strengthen the natural environment which surrounds us. This would be a much better alternative to 40 or so squashed in houses with too small roads that are not affordable for anyone on an average wage.

I don't disagree with providing housing; I disagree with destroying all that Ingham has to offer and a lack of focus on improving the village and providing more opportunities for all-not just a few. I want to petition the housing developments or reduce the number while suggesting the villagers ask for more opportunities for nature and ourselves. Please help me and the village.
