Keep Funding Lincoln Drill Hall

Keep Funding Lincoln Drill Hall
The Issue
Lincoln Drill Hall needs our help!
The Lincoln Drill Hall has been a part of Lincoln's community arts landscape for generations and has been in its current incarnation - as Lincoln's not-for-profit arts centre - since 2004.
The Drill Hall usually hosts over 400 performances each year and offers a wide variety of arts and entertainment for all ages. Most crucially it provides a space for community events, youth theatre groups, drama for adults with learning difficulties, discos across all age groups and needs, dance and art classes, and so much more! It's even there if you just fancy a cuppa and piece of cake in bright, welcoming surroundings (and often accompanied by free live music).
The Drill Hall is more than 'just' a theatre or arts venue - it's a community hub that is at the heart of the cultural scene in Lincoln and the surrounding areas. I have volunteered over many years for this amazing place and I've seen the hugely positive impact it has on the wide range of people who visit and participate. It's an absolute diamond in Lincolnshire's crown and we must fight to ensure that it remains funded.
A large part of the Drill Hall’s funding comes from City of Lincoln Council; without it, there would quite simply be no Drill Hall providing arts centre services in the city.
In July, the Council is conducting a major review of their budgets for the rest of this financial year. They need to do this because of the additional costs and difficulties incurred as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The funding of the Drill Hall will be part of this review and there is no guarantee that it will receive any of the Council funding that it should have had during the rest of this year. If the Council decides to cut or remove that funding, that’s it - the Drill Hall will never open again in its current arts centre form.
Please sign and share this petition to show your appreciation of this fantastic venue and its positive work in the community. We will be passing on the petition to Lincoln City Council to ensure that they're aware of the strong support that people of Lincolnshire have for their Drill Hall, and to encourage them to continue funding this important venue.
Thank you!
