Apologize for falsely smearing Joe Cunningham

On the night of March 3, 2019, South Carolina Republican state representative Lin Bennett posted a picture to her Facebook page that appeared to depict Democratic Congressman Joe Cunningham not having his hand over his heart while the national anthem was being played at the commissioning of the USS Charleston.
However, multiple witnesses on hand at the ceremony deny this was the case. Indeed, raw video captured by WCSC-TV in Charleston shows Cunningham and Senator Tim Scott briefly lowering their hands to applaud the band before raising their hands back to their hearts. Despite this, Bennett refuses to delete the picture, and crassly claimed that Cunningham was showing "disrespect" by "not following protocol."
This is nothing more than a shabby attempt to falsely smear Cunningham as unpatriotic as he faces a tough reelection in a district that still has a significant Republican tint. Regardless of whether you agree with Cunningham's political bent, this sort of pigweed is unacceptable.
Bennett's refusal to retract this accusation in the face of video evidence that directly contradicts her claim is the very sort of thing that has no place in our political discourse. If Bennett has anything in her, she will apologize to Cunningham and take the picture down.
