Limit the Use of Fireworks to Specific Holidays and Their Immediate Days
The Issue
The unrestricted use of fireworks has become a significant issue affecting the peace and tranquility of our communities. Not only are pets frightened by the sudden noise, but young children also struggle to sleep due to this disturbance. This problem extends beyond individual households, impacting many people alike. We propose that fireworks should only be permitted during certain holidays and within days immediately following them, putting an end to weeks-long disturbances caused by continual firework displays.
According to a study conducted by the RSPCA in 2018, 62% of dogs show signs of distress during fireworks (RSPCA). Furthermore, research indicates that loud noises can disrupt children's sleep patterns and potentially impact their development (Journal of Pediatric Psychology).
We live in these communities; we should not have to endure prolonged periods of unnecessary noise pollution. If you agree with this cause and believe it should be brought before parliament for consideration, please sign this petition. Together we can make a change for quieter nights and peaceful living conditions for all residents - human or animal alike.
