As a citizen residing within a bustling neighborhood, I experience a daily hurdle that puts my safety at risk - navigating my driveway amidst the speeding eighteen wheelers. This delivers more danger than convenience to our doorstep. The National Highway TrafficSafety Administration reports that in 2017, large trucks were involved in 11% of all motor vehicle crash deaths. It's troubling to think that these figures can only expand if trucks continue to run at high speeds across residential areas. 

Existing laws that regulate the speed of these vehicles are clearly insufficient. Therefore, this petition calls for the enaction of stricter controls on the speed limits of eighteen wheelers, specifically within residential zones. Doing so will not only alleviate our day-to-day struggles, but will also considerably reduce the risk of fatal accidents.

I request our local authorities to step in and take immediate action for the safety of our community. Let's demand that the right actions are taken to regulate the speed of eighteen wheelers within residential areas. Our lives, and the lives of our neighbors, depend on it.
