Good morning,
We urge anyone available to attend Tuesday night's board meeting to support our efforts. The meeting begins at 7PM. You need to sign up on the sign-in sheet to make a public comment before the meeting starts. I know of 5 people who plan to speak.
I've included the meeting agenda here. If you're just planning to show up for public comment it likely won't begin until about 7:20PM. They will be approving the new middle school principal before public comment. I know many of you have shared concerns about middle school computer usage at lunch so hopefully the new principal stays long enough to hear from you.
In section 9.10 they will vote on a new English curriculum for the high school called Savvas for over $140,000. If anyone has insight into this which I believe has a significant online portion you can reach out to us at distractionfreebat@gmail.com or speak on it Tuesday night. Public comment is limited to 45 minutes total.
The board meetings take place at the Administration Building - 335 W Wilson St.
Here is an article about the technology changes in District 65 Evanston/Skokie. It started with parents connecting about their concerns, a petition and speaking up at board meetings. It can be done and we appreciate everyone who has helped us.
Other ways to help include:
-talking to other parents in the community
-emailing the school board
-allowing us to put a yard sign on your property
-joining our facebook group (Distraction-Free Batavia)
-emailing us with other ideas (distractionfreebat@gmail.com)
