Limit or Remove Speed Bumps on Sandhill Road, Los Lunas, NM
The Issue
Driving through Sandhill Road in Los Lunas, New Mexico, has become increasingly difficult due to the numerous speed bumps. As a resident who frequently travels to Las Marvillas, Tome-adelino, Valencia High School, and other pivotal locations, these speed bumps are more of a hindrance than a help. Not only do they slow down the commute, but they also add unnecessary wear and tear to vehicles. As well as pushing traffic to the north el cerro loop which already has excessive traffic.
While speed bumps are intended to increase safety, their excessive and improper placement often results in abrupt stops and starts, increasing the risk of accidents rather than reducing it. Sandhill Road serves not just as a local street but as a crucial throughway. It's time that our county reconsiders its infrastructure priorities and focuses on more pressing issues.
Valencia County needs to allocate its resources wisely. Pot holes, deteriorating pavements, missing stop signs, and a lack of walkways, particularly to areas like Tome Hill, deserve immediate attention. These are issues that genuinely affect safety and quality of life for residents. Fixing these problems would make our roads safer and more pleasant to navigate.
Let's urge Valencia County to reassess its use of speed bumps and focus instead on fixing potholes, installing necessary stop signs, maintaining pavements, and building walkways. These improvements would benefit all residents, improving safety and commute times significantly.
Sign this petition to demand that Valencia County takes a sensible and safety-oriented approach towards our roads. Together, we can advocate for a change that prioritizes our community's actual needs.
