Limit Immigration to Protect Canadian Jobs

Limit Immigration to Protect Canadian Jobs

The Issue

Every time I enter a fast-food franchise, I see the same type of people, which makes me reflect on the skyrocketing rate of unemployment for students and Canadians. I worry about the future of our youth and our domestic workforce as job opportunities dwindle and competition grows fierce.

The recent surge in immigration to Canada has sparked an intense debate about its impact on the job market. According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate in 2023 for youth (aged 15 to 24) was 13.4%, compared to 8.9% ten years prior. This increase highlights the challenges young Canadians face in securing employment.

While Canada's multicultural landscape is a proud aspect of our nation's identity, we cannot ignore the economic ramifications of unrestricted immigration. Many businesses, seeking to maximize profits, resort to hiring immigrants who are willing to accept lower wages compared to domestic workers. This practice undermines the job prospects and bargaining power of many Canadians, exacerbating unemployment rates.

Concrete action is needed. The government must reevaluate and adjust current immigration policies. By imposing reasonable limits, we can ensure that job opportunities remain accessible to Canadian citizens and residents first, fostering a strong and resilient domestic labor market.

We must balance our compassionate, open-door policy with the economic realities faced by our citizens. Let's call on the Canadian government to pause and reflect, to better regulate the influx of immigrants to protect the livelihoods of current and future Canadians.

Sign this petition to urge the Canadian government to take immediate action in safeguarding the employment prospects for Canadian youth and workers.

Lets save Canada! Bring back Canada's Identity! Wake up government of Canada!
