Limit Fireworks to Silent and Festivals Only

Limit Fireworks to Silent and Festivals Only
The Issue
Every night, I find myself jolted awake by the booming sounds of fireworks and others in the area are findng the same. It's not only my sleep that's disturbed; I've seen firsthand the devastating effects this has on wildlife. In my video recordings, hedgehogs, which are on the red list, are losing their young due to the shock of these loud explosive noises because they get scared and confused, running the other way. Some hedgehogs, sadly, are even found dead, likely from sheer fright.
The impact doesn't stop there. Domestic pets are also victims to this sonic chaos, causing them immense distress that can lead to long-term anxiety and health issues. It's heartbreaking to see our beloved pets in such unnecessary suffering.
People with anxiety and other mental health issues are suffering too. Children and adults with autism struggle too.
Fireworks have become a pervasive nuisance, no longer confined to the celebratory nights of festivals. Instead, they're being set off at various hours throughout the day and night, disrupting the peace of entire neighborhoods. This unchecked usage contributes to noise pollution and environmental stress, with consequences that ripple through our communities.
There is a solution that can allow people to enjoy fireworks without the detrimental side effects: silent fireworks. These innovations provide the visual spectacle that people love, without the noise that threatens both human and wildlife wellbeing.
To address the serious impact of fireworks, I propose that we restrict their use to either silent options or solely during official festivals. This compromise ensures that celebrations can continue, but with mindfulness towards nature and our neighbours.
We must take action now to protect our sleep, our wildlife, and our pets. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a much-needed change that balances enjoyment with responsibility. Let's work towards a future where our nights are peaceful and our wildlife is safe. Please join me in making this vision a reality by adding your signature today.
