Limit Deforestation for Housing Developments in Henry County

The Issue

I am a resident of Henry County, GA, and I have witnessed the devastating effects of rampant deforestation firsthand. Our woods are being cut down at an alarming rate to make way for new homes and planned developments. This is not only endangering the wildlife living in these woods but also threatening our quality of life.

Our county's infrastructure is already strained due to population growth. Roads are becoming congested, schools are overcrowded, and we're losing precious natural spaces that contribute to our community's wellbeing. According to the U.S Census Bureau, Henry County's population has grown by nearly 20% over the past decade (U.S Census Bureau). Despite this rapid growth, there has been no proportional increase in infrastructure development.

Wildlife is being forced onto streets where they risk getting hit by cars. Our children are crammed into classrooms like sardines because new schools aren't being built at a pace that matches our population growth.

We must act now before it's too late. We need legislation that limits deforestation for housing developments and prioritizes preserving natural habitats for wildlife as well as creating sustainable infrastructure for residents.

Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving nature and maintaining quality of life in Henry County. Your signature can help us protect our home from unsustainable development.
