Limit Daily Homework to a Maximum of 30 Minutes

Limit Daily Homework to a Maximum of 30 Minutes

The Issue

I am a student, and like many others, I am overwhelmed by the workload outside of school hours. Our days are filled with lessons, leaving little time for relaxation, personal hobbies, or even sleep. It's time to reassess and adjust the homework system. I propose a moral and considerate approach to student workloads: requiring that homework is limited to 30 minutes a day maximum.

According to a research conducted by Stanford University, more than two hours of homework a night could be counterproductive. The research shows that it leads to stress, physical health issues, a lack of balance in children's lives, and a detachment from society. Furthermore, the University of Phoenix reported in 2014 that high school students receive an average of 17.5 hours of homework each week—more than twice the proposed maximum. By limiting homework to a half hour a day, we can help foster a balanced lifestyle for students.

For the mental, social, and physical wellbeing of students everywhere, we must limit homework to 30 minutes a day. Sign this petition if you agree with a reformed, more balanced approach to education.
