The local community of Limerick would greatly benefit from a skatepark in the Raheen/Dooradoyle/Mungret area. On this side of Limerick there are no skateboarding facilities and anyone who wishes to practice skateboarding or any other extreme sport has to either travel a considerably long distance to a skatepark or skate in public areas which can cause some problems with the public. 

In the Raheen/Dooradoyle/Mungret area there is a lack of sporting facilities and a skatepark in the area would encourage the community stay physically active and healthy. Skateboarding is now an Olympic sport so why shouldn't people interested in the sport have the opportunity to practice the sport so they can make a career out of it.

A skatepark is not just for skateboarding but other sports like scooters, rollerblading and BMXs. More and more teenagers and kids are dropping out of organized sports or being dropped by the club themselves because they are not the best athlete and this is denying them the right to looking after their health.

Skateparks are known for helping people create new friends and meeting and connecting with new people who enjoy the same things that you enjoy and help create healthy and close environments.
