Thursday, May 26th a gay man was brutally attacked in Oak Lawn leaving The Hidden Door at about 2 am. As he was walking down the street he was hit across the face from behind with an object - fracturing his orbital bone. This marks the ..... we've basically lost count by this point. Michael Dominguez, another Oak Lawn attack survivor, summarizes his frustration in a way that will make most of us say "I couldn't have said it better myself": "We are now entering month 9, another attack, and no arrests. We have a police chief who is clueless as to how to effectively LEAD his department. Good officers leaving in droves. Current officers with attitudes of nonchalance. A community under siege. 30 assaults. A trans woman's murder unsolved a year. And not a single idea on how to remedy the problems. Our leaders seem to be more concerned about trans children in public school restrooms than they are about people being bloodied in their streets."
