Lighting at Hyland Park's Softball Diamonds

The Issue

Our close-knit community has a significant interest in expanding our softball/baseball leagues. Many of our residents, of various ages and backgrounds, find joy and community bonding through this sport. There's just one problem: the absence of adequate lighting at two of the diamonds at Hyland Park. This limitation restricts games to daytime hours, significantly reducing the accessibility and overall growth of the leagues.

The inherent benefits of sports activities cannot be underestimated. Besides promoting physical health, a 2011 study published in the Journal of Leadership & Organizational Studies shows that organized team sports, such as softball, encourage community development, social interaction, and leadership skills.

A nighttime lighting system at the park's two diamonds will not only facilitate athletes' passion but also attract new members who find it rigid to participate during the day due to work or other obligations.

We believe that by installing these lights, we can support physical fitness, enhance social interaction, and foster a stronger, healthier community. We plead with the local government to ponder this request and assist us in making our community's dream a reality. We (Shelburne Supreme SloPitch) wish to also support by seeking financial support by the way of Grants, Community Funding, and Private Sponsorship.  Please, lend your support to our cause by signing this petition.
