Petition to Build a Glow Park in Wichita, KS

To: Mayor Lily Wu, Wichita City Council Members, and the Wichita Parks & Recreation Department

From: The Residents and Supporters of Wichita

Subject: Request to Develop a Glow Park in Wichita, KS

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Wichita, Kansas, respectfully petition city leaders to consider the development of a Glow Park—an illuminated, interactive outdoor space that celebrates art, community, and safe nighttime recreation.

Glow Parks are gaining popularity across the U.S. as engaging, family-friendly attractions that combine creative lighting, walking paths, and interactive displays to create a unique experience for all ages. They encourage wellness, bring communities together, and attract tourism—all while supporting local artists and businesses.

A Glow Park in Wichita could feature:

  • Lit walking trails and immersive light displays
  • Interactive zones for children, adults, and families
  • Seasonal exhibits and event space
  • Solar-powered or energy-efficient lighting
  • Local art installations and vendor opportunities

This addition to Wichita would not only enhance our city’s recreational offerings but also serve as a vibrant destination for both residents and visitors—especially during evenings, summer nights for families who don’t travel, cooler seasons when outdoor spaces are underused, or even for parents who get off work late & want to do something with their children.

We ask the City of Wichita to explore the feasibility of this project, including potential locations, public-private partnerships, and community feedback opportunities.

Let’s brighten our city’s future and give families a safe, inspiring place to connect—let’s build a Glow Park in Wichita.

Sincerely,
The Residents and Supporters of Wichita
