Light for Asaiah: The Promise to Protect

Light for Asaiah: The Promise to Protect
The Issue
My grandson, Asaiah Molik, lived only six months. He was quiet, bright eyed, and full of love. He should have been safe. But like too many children, he was failed by both the people who cared for him and the systems meant to protect him.
Asaiah’s story is not just about loss. It’s about the countless warning signs that were overlooked and the children still living in danger because those signs go unseen or unreported. His death exposed painful cracks in our child-protection system here in Indiana and across the country.
I created Light for Asaiah to turn grief into action. This campaign is about awareness, prevention, and accountability. It’s about helping people recognize the signs of abuse and neglect and giving them the courage to speak up. It’s about demanding that child welfare agencies, lawmakers, and community leaders take stronger action to protect infants and children who cannot protect themselves.
We are asking for:
Improved training and oversight within the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS).
More public education about early warning signs of child abuse.
Stronger legal accountability when preventable child deaths occur.
Asaiah’s light will not fade. Each signature is a promise to see the signs, speak up, and protect children before it’s too late. Sign and share this petition so that no other child endures what Asaiah did. Let’s make sure our state never fails another baby again.
