Lift the Protective Status of Penguins for Culinary Purposes

The Issue

I am an American citizen, brought up with the conviction that I have an inherent right to consume any animal I wish. My cultural experience is being greatly curtailed by a regulation prohibiting the consumption of penguins.

Penguins were legally consumable in many areas until the 20th century, when they received a protected status due to a rapid decline in their population numbers worldwide. Today, however, the penguin population is on the rise again with an estimated count of over 20 million worldwide as of 2021 (source: World Wildlife Fund).

Nevertheless, these flightless birds continue to be zealously protected, preventing culinary enthusiasts from enjoying their unique taste. We believe it is time that penguin protection laws reflect the current population rates. After all, various non-endangered birds such as chickens, quails, and turkeys are integral parts of our diets. Why should penguins continue to be an exception?

By recognizing the resiliency of penguins and lifting their protected status for culinary purposes, we can validate the fundamental culinary rights of many while ensuring that this is done in a responsible and sustainable manner. It is in this spirit that we ask for your support to bring a significant change to the culinary world and to uphold the core American values of liberty and freedom to choose.

Please express your agreement by signing this petition today. Let us bring culinary variety back to our plates.
