Please use your influence, connections, and substantial voice to press for more research into a different life expectancy for people of color who have Down syndrome.

Previous research has shown that people of color who have Down syndrome have a significantly shorter life expectancy than their peers who are Caucasion. The limited research on this topic is old and does not address potential causes. As a community, we should be pressing for more information.
In a recent article Global spokesperson Beverly Johnson is quoted:
"There's a remarkable disparity between children of color who get Down syndrome — life expectancy is age 23 — and non-black children with Down syndrome — life expectancy is 63 years old."
