Stop de-affiliation of College of Art Delhi from Delhi University to Ambedkar University.

Stop de-affiliation of College of Art Delhi from Delhi University to Ambedkar University.
The Issue
Reasons why the students of College of Art, Delhi do not want our college to be affiliated to Ambedkar University, Delhi.
1) NO RESERVED SEATS FOR CANDIDATES BELONGING TO SCHEDULED TRIBES OUTSIDE OF DELHI (STs from outside NCT) -
AUD (a state university) does not have reservations for STs from outside of Delhi, therefore, students belonging to the ST category (outside NCT) will not have any reservation here. Scheduled Tribes not only of Delhi but also from all over India have a rich history and culture, and if their (for STs of outside NCT) rights of reservation are taken away, it will create a huge crater in the atmosphere of our college and no one will be able to experience their incredibly rich artistic expression. STs of outside NCT should not, in any way, lose their reservation and representation in the College of Art.
2) FEES HIKE -
The fees structure of AUD is 3 to 4 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE CURRENT FEES -
Students training to be a fine artist is already expensive enough and if College of Art merges into AUD, the students will have a major crisis and won't be able to afford their education.
3) NONCONSENSUAL MERGER -
The students of College of Art were not asked and informed directly by the faculty members of the college about the merger into AUD. This act is totally undemocratic and highly unethical. The students of this college have a right to influence the process of decision making regarding the college. We live in a democracy, not a monarchy. Same should go for College of Art, Delhi.
4) IMMEDIATE INITIATION OF THE ENTRANCE PROCESS FOR THE YEAR 2022 UNDER THE AFFILIATION OF DELHI UNIVERSITY AND NOT AUD -
A whole batch of candidates were denied the opportunity to appear at the entrance exam of College of Art for the year 2021 whereas many other Fine Art colleges initiated their admission process as per the COVID-19 safety guidelines and took students in. No reason was given by the faculty members for this huge fallacy of not conducting the entrances for the year 2021 and we demand transperancy on this act. This should not happen again for 2022 as we do not want a whole generation of artists to be denied their right to get education from College of Art, Delhi.
The admission process of Academic year 2021 - 2022 has not yet been started in the College of Art, Delhi. This College has been affiliated to University of Delhi since its inception i.e. 1942 for the Undergraduate course Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and also Postgraduate course Master of Fine Arts (MFA).
It is totally unacceptable to us that a whole batch of generation is denied the opportunity to take admission in one of the premier College of University of Delhi, due to the merger of College of Art in Ambedkar University, Delhi.
Fine Arts institution is an indispensable part of any University and is the hub of Art and Culture. An Art Institution is the spirit of the nation and represents the culture of the country on the International scenario. University of Delhi can't afford to lose such a gem of an institution imparting creativity for which it took 80 years to build through the inspiring oeuvre and enlightening legacy of Great Indian artists, and the doyens of Indian contemporary art throughout this period the College of Art was part of University of Delhi.
We demand to stop the de-affiliation process and College of Art and want that the Delhi University should direct the College of Art administration to immediately start the process of admission for the academic year 2021- 2022 and fill all the seats of BFA and MFA courses under the affiliation of University of Delhi.
Furthermore, shifting a creative institute to State level University will not only amount to lose bright creative minds from University of Delhi but also loss of students in terms of not getting degrees from the prestigious University of Delhi.
Therefore, we also demand from Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Respected Vice Chancellor of Delhi University that should take all steps to stop the attempt of Delhi Govt. to merge College of Art to Ambedkar University, Delhi.
