Since the inception of the Forest Lake Club in Columbia, South Carolina, this private group of members have held firm to their founding criteria of being a "country club of white membership". To this day, the club has yet to accept a black member.

Current South Carolina Lieutenant Governor and Incoming Governor Henry McMaster, has been a member of this all-white club for over 30 years. As the Lieutenant Governor prepares to take residency in the State's Governor's Mansion, McMaster has no plans of quitting and distancing himself from this discriminatory "members only" country club.

In order to represent the great state or South Carolina, its chief leader should not be part of a country club that excludes members because of their skin color. If McMaster continues his membership with the Forest Lake Club, it will send the message to South Carolinians and our nation that it is ok for discrimination and racism to continue, even in the state's highest elected office.
