Of course, the timing of this announcement coinciding so closely to the school year end is not coincidental. By weeks end, the CBE BoT will not meet again for several weeks. I am not alone in my concerns, in fact many other citizens have expressed similar concerns and have signed a petition to this effect. https://www.change.org/p/lidavis-cbe-ab-ca-call-for-resignation-of-calgary-board-of-eucation-trustee-lisa-davis . I feel strongly there are several causes for concern around conflicts of interest including access to confidential CBE data, and the CBE’s inability to assure citizens in areas of ward 6 and Calgary BOW geographic overlap that Trustee Lisa Davis will act in CBE’s interest and not campaign for the UCP. Also of concern is her admission of being ineffective in her current role. I would urge Lisa Davis to resign her position as Trustee for wards 6 & 7 immediately so the role can be filled by someone whose complete focus can be on the students and citizens in those wards and throughout the CBE. It should be the goal of every trustee to have the board function at full productive capacity for the benefit of CBE students, schools, and citizens. Until that time, in the best interests of the students of the CBE who deserve committed representation, I am asking the CBE Board of Trustees uphold the integrity of the board by sanctioning Trustee Lisa Davis in her current role. I hope CBE Trustees can come together in assuring citizens that the interests of students remain the highest priority for the Calgary Board of Education and demand full focus of trustees in that endeavour.
