The Liberty County, GA Animal Control facility has now become a building of imminent death for unclaimed animals abandoned there. Without permitting relationships with reputable rescue organizations and/or authorizing public adoptions through a responsible and sustainable adoption program, the lives of these animals are given an abysmal and abhorrent 10 days before they are killed, regardless of kennel space!                     

Liberty County Georgia Animal Control is euthanizing animals when there is ample kennel space available. We have made great strides reducing the euthanasia rate from nearly 50% in 2015 to less than 5% in 2019. However, the Liberty County Administrator has now created policy which requires euthanasia based on their time in the facility, regardless of how much space is available! They refuse to have cohesive county board meetings with their own community, the very residents that elected them! Healthy adoptable animals, along with scared and profoundly neglected animals, are having their lives cut short by ELECTED officials on the Liberty County Board Of Commissioners and their new "policy." Said policy is egregiously deficient of ethical and humane standards, painfully neglecting to provide adequate ministrations to allow sufficient opportunities for rescuers and/or potential adopters to work and network these innocent animals to safety. To kill healthy animals when there is available space is morally criminal.                            

Please join us in standing as the armor for these defenseless animals in demanding that Liberty County Georgia Commissioners STOP this needless killing of animals now! They must change course on this detestable policy, commit to community involvement guaranteeing board meetings with community stakeholders and animal rights advocates, as well as amending their attitudes to engage in sympathethic dialog with their community members. This is the only hope these animals have. Their lives depend on our motivation and actions. 

We demand policy change favorable to reasonable opportunities allowing advocates to save as many animals as possible. With the current resistant and unmoved board of commissioners, this will be impossible without our relentless endeavors. We do not wish to be superficially placated and/or appeased at rudimentary levels. This change must possess sustainability, validity, and reliability for the long term.
