Stop the Senseless Killing of Animals at Liberty County, GA Animal Control!

The Issue

The County Administrator in Liberty County, GA has changed the Liberty County Animal Control policy from euthanasia when the facility runs out of space, to killing immediately when the 10-day hold time of an animal is up, regardless. This means, every dog or cat, puppies and kittens included, that enter this facility will be killed immediately  upon their 10th day in the facility, even if the facility has plenty of available space! The dog in the picture was pregnant when her 10 days were up. She is now gone, and so are her unborn babies... There was a rescue ready to take her, but due to the new policy, help arrived too late.

The Underground Tailroad has had 2 years of great success in rescuing over 1000 animals from this facility, because they were given the time to network and move the animals out. This is no longer the case, because there simply is not enough time; therefore, they have regretfully stepped away... They hope to get on board again once a resolution can be accomplished. Please help us appeal to the authorities that made this fateful decision. These animals deserve a chance! There is no reason to take an animals life when there is space available.

Petra BrooksPetition StarterBorn and raised in Germany in 1967, I married my husband 31 years ago and moved to the US. My husband was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army in the 80's, which is how we met. Ever since I moved here, the pet-overpopulation and abuse/neglect to animals has been my biggest concern. Having been raised in an environment where there were no strays and all domestic pets were family members and treated as such, it has been a real struggle for me to live here...
