Minority Party Candidates Need More Publicity In Oregon

Minority Party Candidates Need More Publicity In Oregon
The Issue
GOAL - To get the voices heard of ALL minority candidates running for office in Oregon, not just the voices from the two major parties.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN - After signatures have been collected, every media outlet in Oregon will be contacted and a meeting will be set up to discuss the petition. Media outlets include television, radio, newspaper and digital media.
SUMMARY - In Oregon, voters have lost confidence in voting due to the lack of options. They feel they have become disenfranchised and apathetic in the voting process. There are numerous minority parties in Oregon who have messages that voters want to hear, but they can't get their messages out as easily as the major parties because the media turns away from them.
RECENT OREGON DEBATES
- Kate Brown-D/Knute Buehler-R (Gubernatorial Race)
- McLeod-Skinner-D/Greg Walden-R (Oregon's 2nd Congressional District)
- Brad Avakian-D/Dennis Richardson-R (Secretary of State)
As you can see, viewers and listeners only get to hear viewpoints from Democrats or Republicans. By allowing third party candidates to participate in statewide debates on local media outlets, it will give voters more choices when it comes to voting for a candidate.
The Hill states, "60% of voters say a viable third party is needed..."
Gallup says, "57% of Americans say a third major political party is needed..."
NBCNews reports, 71% of millenials expressing, "the Republican and Democratic parties do such a poor job of representing the American people that a third major party is needed..."
USA Today quotes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, "In any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party."
This petition is not intend to help one minority party in Oregon, it's written to help ALL minority parties in Oregon. Example minority parties:
Americans Elect Party
Constitution Party
Humane Party
Independent Party
Libertarian Party
Pacific Green Party
Working Families Party
... to name a few.
Voters need choices. Voters need to see and hear minority candidates. Voters unanimously want this.
Signing this petition will get the candidates the publicity they deserve!
