Dear friends,

since last Sunday we have certainty. Italy will be governed in the future by a right-wing alliance, whose leader says of herself that she has a “relaxed relationship with fascism”.

Her fellow Matteo Salvini already threatened before the election that he wanted to close the ports for rescue ships again. We take these threats very seriously and prepare ourselves for difficult missions. Because we want to make you one promise: We carry on, not letting ourselves be intimidated and only dropping anchor when we are no longer needed.

With your help, we are now preparing the next mission, taking on board new fuel and provisions to set off again as soon as possible. Until then, we are exchanging with other sea rescue organizations, the German authorities and politicians about the current situation in order to be prepared as best as possible for known and new difficulties.
