Save the LHS Math Office
Currently, the LHS math office is an open and inviting place to get extra help or just work on math independently. The environment is very supportive, and I believe that this is created by the layout of the office. All of the desks are open, the teachers can communicate easily, and there is a lot of space for students to sit. It is much less intimidating and isolating than the gray cubicles of the humanities office. Personally, I think that this makes it a lot easier to ask for and receive help from both teachers and other students in the math offices, and the fact that you can communicate with multiple teachers means that you are more likely to understand the material. Overall, I think that the layout of the math office is conducive to both being productive and establishing relationships with teachers. I don't know about you, but I have never gone into the humanities office to get extra help, mostly because it feels so intimidating. It's even difficult to find where your teacher sits. There is currently a plan to make the math office more similar to the humanities office, with cubicles and more tightly packed desks. If this happens, I think it will be even more difficult for students to get extra help in math and connect with their teachers. If you agree with this, please sign this petition, which I will use to help continue my conversations with Principal Stevens and the LHS administration about stopping the change from occurring. Thank you.
