LFNO Support our Teachers and Bargain Now!

The Issue

Our teachers are Lycée's greatest asset. Without their hard work and dedication Lycée would not exist. We support our teachers in their need to have respect, job security, and a collective voice. Teachers have done an incredible job with our children, despite not having these foundational needs met; therefore, improved working conditions can only further benefit the learning environment for our children.

We, the parents and members of the Lycée Français community, are demanding that the Lycée Board offer the Union, UELFNO, multiple bargaining date options, beginning in December, and that the Lycée Board communicates these date options by December 2, 2024, in order to begin and go through the collective bargaining process.

Further information:

# of teachers and staff fired or non-renewed 2023/24 school year: 18
# of teachers and staff quit 2023/24 school year: 11
# of teachers and staff quit already this school year: 10
# of teachers fired this year: 1

The teachers won a union this past spring and the school has yet to acknowledge and bargain with the teachers. In fact, the school’s legal representation has gone so far as to get a bill passed in Baton Rouge that would essentially make it so the school is never forced to respond or bargain. Lycée teachers need our support!
