The area around the A2 in Blackheath has one of the highest recorded NO2 levels in London - directly impacting the health of those who live on and use the heath.

We want to plant 10,000 trees along a 50m strip on the south side of the heavily congested road.

Trees are proven to improve air quality in urban areas as well as sequester carbon - contributing to slowing climate change. The planted trees could absorb 10,000 tons of carbon over 40 years.

By planting a relatively thin strip alongside the road, the heath would still be accessible for all those who use it for sport and recreation whilst improving air quality for local schools, users of the heath and the village.

Funding for the planting and maintenance of the trees would come from grants, local donations, and council support.
