Councillor Onikosi revealed the cuts in Lewisham park funding required over the next 3 years has increased to £355,000 from £273,000 and will need to be made far quicker. This is on top of the cuts already announced which have yet to be implemented. With just 7 weeks to go before the cuts are approved, Councillor Onikosi expressed surprise that user groups had not been consulted earlier by officers. We made it clear that the current proposals are not acceptable and that imposing cuts within the current timeframe and without proper safeguards in place puts park safety in jeapody.
