More than 3,000 people have signed a Millwall fans’ petition calling on Lewisham Council to the halt of the sale of land surrounding The Den to property developer Renewal. The petition was set up by Millwall Supporters Club member Peter Garston, who is also Milllwall’s Fan on the Board. He has started the campaign Defend Our Den. The campaign has received support from around the world, as far away as Australia and the US. And fans handed a Valentine’s Day Card from the fans to Lewisham Council asking them to stop the sale and consider the Club’s plans. Peter Garston said: “People can’t understand why a club that’s done so much for the community is getting such a raw deal. But we wanted to be good natured about it and decided to send Lewisham Council a Valentine’s Day card. We want the authority to show Millwall a bit of love and give us a proper hearing.” Fans can sign a paper petition in the Blue Bus at The Den this Saturday.
