Defend Our Den - Stop Millwall land sale to property developers
I’ve supported Millwall man and boy for 45 years. The Club has been my family.
Like all families, we've had highs and lows but one thing has stayed constant - the Club has been proud to be part of the community.
From establishing our award-winning Millwall Community Scheme Trust which has helped thousands of local kids through social inclusion programmes to being part of the campaign to Save Lewisham A&E, the Club has always shown responsibility to its fans and neighbours.
That’s why fans are appalled that three important areas of land currently leased to the Club and the Community Scheme – including the Lions Centre which houses our community initiatives and the car park – are being by sold by Lewisham Council to a property developer.
This is in spite of Millwall submitting ambitious and viable development plans that would not only guarantee the future of our Community Scheme but also the long-term financial security of the Club.
Lewisham Council didn’t even consider them or allow us to bid for the land.
We urge Lewisham Council to stop this sale, get back round the table to consider Millwall’s plans and let the Club continue to play a major role in serving the community as well as participating in the development of the Surrey Canal Triangle.
Millwall and Lewisham Council worked together with the community to stop Lewisham A&E closing.
So let’s work together again to put the people first, not a property developer.
Please sign this petition and let’s Defend Our Den.
