The Covid-19 pandemic was and continues to be a watershed moment in public health history, costing numerous lives and impacting even more across the world. As the director of Ohio Department of Health, your resolve and guidance to Governor Mike DeWine saved countless lives in the state of Ohio. We greatly admire and applaud your timely response and sincere efforts during this unprecedented time.

As physicians, we know that the only way to stop the spread of this deadly disease is by enacting change at the population level, with policies such as social distancing, facial masks and improved hygiene. As the director of ODH, your ability to rise above any political or public pressure was noted and greatly appreciated. Your efforts transcended the normal call of duty and firmly established Ohio as a national leader in COVID-19 prevention efforts.

We feel that your resignation is a great loss for all of us. That being said, we are glad that you will remain as the chief advisor to Governor DeWine during this pandemic of historic proportions,
