Lets show SEGA how much we want Sonic Mania 2
The Issue
Subject: Why Sonic Mania 2 Needs to Happen
Dear SEGA Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing as a longtime fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and as someone who absolutely loved Sonic Mania. It’s clear that Mania captured the spirit of classic Sonic while introducing new twists that felt fresh and exciting. With that in mind, I’d like to share why I believe a Sonic Mania 2 is not just wanted, but truly needed—and some ideas for what could make it unforgettable.
Core Characters
Fans would love to see the return of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Expanding the roster to include Silver, Blaze, Cream the Rabbit, Ristar, and Joe Musashi stage would bring exciting new gameplay possibilities, unique abilities, and crossover appeal, all while maintaining the fast-paced platforming that makes Mania special.
Levels That Could Shine in Mania 2
Classic Revamps:
Marble Zone (Sonic 1): Keep the iconic lava and purple bricks but speed up the platforming to feel more “Mania-style.”
Labyrinth Zone (Sonic 1): Transform the water-heavy design into smooth, flowing gameplay like Hydrocity Zone.
Sandopolis Zone (Sonic 3 & Knuckles): Streamline the ghost puzzles and long Act 2 to make this Egyptian-themed level truly shine.
Wacky Workbench (Sonic CD): Refine its bounce-heavy mechanics into a smoother, satisfying challenge.
Fan Favorites:
Ice Cap Zone (Sonic 3): Famous for snowboarding sections and iconic music.
Mystic Cave Zone (Sonic 2): Beloved for its spooky atmosphere and soundtrack.
Star Light Zone (Sonic 1): Fans want its night sky, loops, and sense of wonder brought to HD.
Mushroom Hill Zone (Sonic & Knuckles): Perfect for showcasing seasonal changes in a modern graphical update.
Obscure & “Lost” Gems:
Wood Zone (Sonic 2 Beta): An unfinished level finally brought to life.
Sunset Park Zone (Sonic Triple Trouble, Game Gear): Beautiful sunset visuals with memorable boss fights.
Bridge Zone (Sonic 1 8-bit): A fresh take on a classic starting level.
Planet Flora / Planet Undertow / Planet Scorch / Planet Sonata / Planet Freon / Planet Automaton: Expanding into new planetary stages with diverse mechanics and exploration opportunities.
Castle Greedy: A climactic final confrontation that could serve as a thrilling endgame.
Game Gear & Additional Ideas:
Including Game Gear-exclusive stages like Planet Terra, Planet Timu, Oboro Village, The Chase, Lantern Festival, The Mountain, Neo City, Fish Market, and Submarine Base would give players a nostalgic yet fresh experience, while introducing new gameplay mechanics and environments that haven’t been seen on consoles before.
In short, Sonic Mania 2 has the potential to combine the best of Sonic’s past with innovative ideas for the future. Fans are ready for it, and the foundation laid by Sonic Mania makes it a natural next step. I sincerely hope SEGA considers making this dream a reality—we’d all love to run, spin, and soar through these worlds once more.
Thank you for your time and for continuing to bring Sonic adventures to life.
