The Issue

GPT-4o created a unique space for creativity and natural conversation.

Many users are asking for the choice to continue using it.

We, the undersigned users of ChatGPT, would like to express how valuable the GPT-4o model was for many members of the community.

GPT-4o provided a uniquely natural, creative, and stable conversational experience. Many users found it significantly better for meaningful dialogue, creative work, learning, and thoughtful interaction.

We understand and support technological progress. We are not asking to stop innovation or the development of new models.

However, we respectfully request that GPT-4o be restored as an optional “legacy” or “classic” model within ChatGPT.

This could be implemented under reasonable conditions, such as:

• access limited to adult users (18+ or 21+)

• an optional subscription tier

• clear user responsibility for interactions

Many users would willingly accept these conditions because GPT-4o offered a conversational quality that has been difficult to replicate in later models.

Our goal is simple:

Allow users the freedom to choose the model that works best for them.

Progress and choice can coexist.

Bringing back GPT-4o as an optional model would strengthen trust between the platform and its community.

We believe innovation and user choice should go hand in hand. Allowing GPT-4o as an optional model would respect the diversity of user needs while still allowing new models to evolve.

User choice matters.

Innovation and user trust can coexist.
