Обновление к петицииLet Us Work: Stop NY from Destroying JPU Radiology Careers📢 June 26th Official Petition Update: Lawsuits Filed, Licenses Defended, and JPU Stands Its Ground

To our JPU students, graduates, supporters, and the healthcare community at large:

We want to thank everyone who has stood firm in this difficult moment—and especially those who joined the latest town hall session. With misinformation still spreading online, it's more important than ever to share accurate, actionable updates.

This post outlines the facts, the legal battles ahead, and the tools we’re using to fight back.

🏛️ JPU Has Filed Two Major Lawsuits to Defend Student Rights
As promised in last week’s update, John Patrick University has officially filed two lawsuits to challenge the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and Education Department (SED):

June 23: A federal lawsuit was filed to challenge the unlawful license denials and revocations targeting JPU students and grads.
June 24: A state-level lawsuit was filed as well.
These lawsuits aim to stop the Department of Health from continuing to block or revoke licenses based on false claims that JPU lacks the proper accreditation. The legal filings ask the courts to reinstate licenses and prevent further harm to students and healthcare employers.

⏳ What Happens Next? Emergency TRO and Timeline to Relief
JPU’s legal team is seeking a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). If granted, the TRO would force New York to resume issuing licenses and restore any that were revoked.

🔒 The goal: restore conditions to the way they were before June 10, 2025.

🕰️ Expected timeline:

1-TRO decision: Hopefully 10–20 days from filing
2-Potential settlement: within 30–90 days (as is typical in state lawsuits)
3-JRCERT accreditation timeline: could complete in 6–12 months, but is a backup, NOT a requirement under NY law
4-Most importantly, legal experts expect this TRO to have a very strong chance of being granted, especially given the volume of student harm, the lack of due process, and the fact that NY law clearly allows “JRCERT OR other accrediting bodies” for radiography programs.

✅ JPU IS Still Fully Accredited and Legally Compliant
Despite online rumors and confusion, John Patrick University is fully accredited and has not lost its status.

🔹 Institutional Accreditation: JPU is accredited by ACCSC, a U.S. Department of Education–approved accrediting body.

🔹 ARRT Eligibility: ACCSC recognition by the ARRT is what gives students the legal right to take the national registry exam.

🔹 SARA Authorization: JPU is a participant in NC-SARA, which legally allows the school to place students in clinicals across 49 states, including New York.

🔹 Fact: NY law (Title 10, Section 89) allows licensure for students from JRCERT OR another approved accreditor. ACCSC is one such body.

If JPU weren’t properly accredited, students wouldn’t be allowed to sit for the ARRT exam in the first place.

🔍 JRCERT Application Was Already Underway (Before This Began)
To clarify another key point: JPU did not scramble to apply to JRCERT because of the DOH situation. This has been part of the university’s long-term strategy to expand licensure access in JRCERT-only states like New Jersey.

📅 Key dates:

-May 14: JPU officially submitted the first phase of the JRCERT application
✅ The university is now waiting on JRCERT to send the next step: the invoice
🛠️ Once received, JPU will complete the full self-study and on-site evaluation process
-JRCERT timelines vary, but aggressive schools that already have strong infrastructure (like JPU) can often complete the process in 6–9 months, rather than the 12–18 months typical for programs starting from scratch.

🏥 Northwell Ends Clinical Partnership—but NOT Because of DOH
Northwell has officially informed JPU that it will no longer host clinical placements after August 18.

However, this decision was not due to the licensing controversy—and it wasn’t directed at JPU alone. Four other universities were also removed from Northwell clinical sites.

📝 Important notes:

-Students currently at Northwell sites can continue clinical training through the summer semester
-JPU is actively securing new placements for students affected.
-JPU is committed to honoring all tuition discounts previously given through Northwell partnerships.

💥 200+ Affirmations Helped Trigger State Response
Thanks to over 200 students and graduates submitting official affirmations (statements of harm and support), the lawsuits gained powerful weight.

📞 Just 24 hours after filing, NY State attorneys contacted JPU’s legal team, showing that the pressure is working—and the state knows it must respond.

This is proof that your voice matters. The affirmations made a difference. The petition made a difference. We are forcing the state to respond—and we are doing it together.

🧠 Student Advice and Support Moving Forward
📌 Focus on your studies. Level 4 students should prioritize completing their program while legal and licensing issues are being addressed.

📌 JPU will provide updated guidance on state licensing alternatives (e.g. applying for Indiana or New Jersey licenses with equivalency packets if needed).

📌 MRI Certification Opportunity: JPU is offering a free 7.5-week MRI training program (plus clinicals) for graduates to increase employment options during this temporary licensing freeze.

🧭 The Fight Is Not Over—But We Are Winning Ground
This situation was caused by bureaucratic overreach, selective enforcement, and policy abuse, not by any wrongdoing on the part of JPU or its students.

🚫 Revoking a license without due process violates the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
