Let These Three Greenwich Student-Athletes Play
Three Greenwich student-athletes have been denied the opportunity to compete in high school sports.
Section 2 denied their athletic eligibility, and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) upheld that denial.
These are three students who want to attend school, be part of their teams, compete alongside their teammates, and continue doing what they have worked hard to do.
They have already missed games and valuable opportunities during their high school athletic careers.
We believe students should not lose the opportunity to compete because of family circumstances beyond their control.
NYSPHSAA President Adam Stoltman has stated:
“As we look to the future, it is important that we continue to listen to our membership, embrace new opportunities and ensure that students remain at the center of every decision we make.”
We are asking Section 2 and NYSPHSAA to put these students at the center of this decision.
Let them play.
These three young athletes should be judged by their commitment to their school, their teams, their academics, and their communities—not punished because of family circumstances beyond their control and unrelated to their character, effort, or commitment as students and athletes.
Please sign this petition and help give these students the opportunity they deserve: the opportunity to compete.
