Donald Trump’s new executive order forcing truck drivers to pass English literacy tests is not about safety, it is about discrimination. It is a cruel and targeted attack on the immigrant workers who keep our economy alive, many of whom have driven safely and responsibly for years.

This policy does not solve a problem, it creates one. Thousands of skilled, hardworking drivers, many with decades of experience, now face losing their jobs overnight because English is not their first language. These are people who have delivered food, medicine, and essential goods through pandemics, storms, and supply chain crises. Many of them were the heroes Trump once praised. Now they are being pushed out and punished.

This rule will not make our roads safer. It will disrupt the supply chain, increase driver shortages, and destroy families' livelihoods, all to push a xenophobic agenda. Being a good truck driver is not about where you were born or what language you speak at home. It is about skill, focus, and reliability, and millions of immigrant drivers have proven themselves over and over again.
