To all governments, cultural institutions, and citizens of the world,

On May 26th, 2026, history will be made. Millions of gamers across the planet will unite for one reason: the release of Grand Theft Auto VI — one of the most anticipated entertainment events of all time.

GTA is more than just a game. It is a cultural phenomenon, a technological achievement, and a source of joy, connection and creativity for people of all ages. For over two decades, this series has shaped the way we see open-world storytelling and interactive art.

That’s why we, the undersigned, call for May 26th to be officially recognised as Global Gamer Day — a day to celebrate gaming culture, digital creativity, and the powerful communities that games create. A symbolic pause. One day for us.

We know governments won’t make it a holiday overnight (although they should!). But this is a call to:

Employers: let your workers take a gaming day.
Schools: let students embrace the digital world for once.
Families: understand your kids’ hype — they’ve waited 10 years for this!
Rockstar Games: support the movement!

Let the world game together, on May 26th, 2026.
