Let the Common Council know your choice for First Ward Supervisor

The Issue

In a special meeting on Friday, January 3, the Common Council will be voting to appoint a replacement for Claire Cousin, who has resigned as County Supervisor representing the First Ward. Rather than let the Council decide who will represent us, First Ward residents wish to make their preference known.

Two people have expressed interest in the position: Randall Martin, who ran for the Common Council in 2023 and lost in the primary, and Alexandria Madero, a newcomer to Hudson politics who got her introduction to civic engagement as a charter member of the 11 Warren Street Action Group, protesting the county’s acquisition of 11 Warren Street—an action that forces Hudson to live with a fifty-year-old relic of wrong-headed urban development and an out-of-character gap in the streetscape for decades to come.

We the undersigned, First Ward residents all, believe that Alexandria Madero has the expertise and energy to represent the interests of the First Ward and all of Hudson ably and ardently on the Columbia County Board of Supervisors. We urge the members of the Common Council to respect the wishes of the people who will be represented and appoint Alexandria Madero to the position of First Ward Supervisor.
