Let's work together to improve South valley Little League
The Issue
My 8-year-old son’s heart and the one of hundreds of children are wholly invested in baseball and the South Valley Little League. It’s his sanctuary, a place where he learns the spirit of teamwork, dedication, and resilience on the field. The sheer thought of his cherished space being taken away fills us with concern at the potential loss of two of the current fields, (Pewee and T-ball field) which are the fields assigned for the most little of our community.
Commissioner Frank Baca, and the Bernalillo County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, please reconsider the idea of demolishing those 2 fields at the South Valley Little League that play a crucial role in the lives of our children and families.
The South Valley Little League is more than just a patch of green and bases; it’s a place where dreams take flight, where friendships are formed, and where life's essential lessons are taught with every swing, slide, and stolen base. This league is a grassroots initiative, fostering community connections, promoting health, and providing a safe place for children in South Valley, NM, to thrive.
Statistics consistently show that participation in organized sports has numerous benefits for children, including improved physical health, enhanced academic performance, and better social skills. The South Valley Little League is a critical component of these beneficial experiences for the youth of our community.
Scouting for new open spaces or unused lands for new projects should be prioritized instead of retracting the existing fields and areas we currently have. Investing in additional spaces rather than repurposing existing ones would not only preserve the integral fabric of our community but also expand our capacity for future growth.
Let's stand together to protect the spaces that nurture our children and support the continuation of the South Valley Little League. Join me in urging the Bernalillo County decision-makers to value our community’s needs and maintain the South Valley Little League space for the enjoyment and development of our children.
Sign this petition today to make a stand for the preservation of our community’s recreational.
