Greggs have just launched a Vegan Sausage Roll which is great news! However, it's about time they started making more Gluten Free items that Gluten Intolerant people and coeliacs can enjoy. We need more savoury food to go options that we can pick up at Lunchtime! It's about time we had the convenience of walking down the high street and picking up a sandwich or a warm pasty. Study's say that 1 in 100 people are coeliac and this doesn't account for people who are just intolerant to gluten too so there is definitely a market for producing more Gluten Free food to go. 

We know that there is a risk of cross-contamination involved with creating Gluten Free products in a bakery full of Gluten filled products, however, there are plenty of measures already in place or that could be introduced to minimise this completely. For example, Gluten Free sandwiches could be made and packaged off-site and delivered daily to minimise the risk. Pastries could be cooked on the top shelves of ovens with baking paper on trays along with separate utensils to handle the food. It's definitely not impossible. Plenty of takeaways and restaurants already handle Gluten Free food alongside food that contains Gluten and they have managed this risk well working with companies like Coeliac UK.
