Good morning ladies and gentlemen, we are from Sekolah Highscope Indonesia Bintaro. Today we will talk about industrial waste, toxic industrial waste or B3 (Limbah Bahan Berbahaya dan Beracun) waste has caused many negative effects on Indonesia. We will also explain our plans to spread awareness about it and also as a part of our contribution to the community. Through this explanation, we hope that you will help us spread awareness and gain more knowledge about this problem, and help reduce the number of cases.

An ecosystem is a place where all organisms live. An ecosystem is essential for organisms since they depend on it for a place to live and get food. Ecosystems also are places where both non-living things and living things interact with each other. However, some actions happen and harm the ecosystem which causes an imbalanced ecosystem, an example of this is industrial or B3 waste. 

Lately, factories have been handling industrial waste improperly, they have been throwing industrial waste into bodies of water such as lakes, streams, and even the ocean. This causes water pollution, and marine organisms to get harmed, and this also causes harm to us.

Factories handling industrial waste improperly causes many negative impacts on our environment and even on us. Toxic industrial waste will damage plants and soil and will contaminate many bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, streams, and many more. Since industrial waste contaminates bodies of water, it disrupts the food cycle for both marine animals and us as well. It affects us because marine animals eat the toxic industrial waste and if we consume the marine animals, then it will affect our health. They can damage our nervous, digestive, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems, as well as skin diseases of humans which can even cause death.

According to Direktorat Jenderal Pengelolaan Sampah, the amount of toxic and hazardous industrial waste produced in Indonesia has increased over the years. In 2015, Indonesia produced 285,937.64 tons of toxic industrial waste. In 2016, the amount of toxic industrial 

waste decreased by a lot to 6.917,74 tons. In 2017, Indonesia produced 3,075.84 tons. In 2019, the amount of industrial waste Indonesia produced increased by a total of 285.410,30 tons.

Based on law 32 of 2009, it is stated that every person who produces B3 waste is obliged to manage the B3 waste produced. B3 waste management is a series of activities that include reduction, storage, collection, transportation, utilization, processing, and/or landfill (Pasal 1 angka 11 PP Nomor 101 tahun 2014).

Based on this, our proposed solution will be to help the government apply the rule above more strictly. To do this we will spread awareness and encourage people to reduce industrial waste by recycling and reusing, composting, auditing waste streams, etc. As a media for our solution, we created this petition and Mblock. By creating our Mblock, we can spread awareness and share more information with our audience.
