Dear all supporters,

The photo above, taken September 2, shows between 20 and 30 thousand teachers protesting before the Parliament in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea. They were wearing black to call for a safer classroom for students and teachers. As written in the petition, due to the misuse of laws, teachers cannot do when some students, parents, or school leaders get toxic.

Thankfully,  a World Teacher Federation, Education International have issued an official support statement, saying that "It’s time for the world to stand in solidarity with South Korean teachers, who rise against legal constraints, and the denial of their basic rights, in their fight for justice and equity in education," (excerpted from the Official Statement) Also, the public, including parents and general citizens, are quite in approval of teachers' protest. The Ministry of Education has been violating school principals' rights to designate a temporary school holiday so teachers can express condolence to those teachers who passed away and carry on the protest of recovery public education. Despite surpassing the rights of the school principals, that is, the violation of laws, the Ministry of Education still keeps threatening to punish teachers who will attend the September 4 protest.
